Dane County Towns Association Annual Meeting Town of Windsor May 14, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm by President Jerry Derr. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Senator Mark Miller. Derr introduced guests: Ronn Ferrell (Co. Bd Sup), Hendrick, Todd Violante, Pat Downing, Art Riese, Keith Ripp Sheriff Mahoney: · Gave a tour of the Northeast precinct · 11 deputies were hired on 5-12-08 · 105 are currently on electronic monitoring · All 6 traffic team members are up and running—currently using marked vehicles, but will be changing to unmarked vehicles shortly
John Hausbeck – Environmental Health Services Supervisor: · Has been in position since March 2008 · Current project: private well testing o make sure people are aware of testing—solicit info o communications o testing was done in Town of Medina recently—had 62 responses o testing for bacteria and nitrates o showing people what they should be doing, how to test o what people should be testing o data collected will be shared with DCTA annually o water test kits will be available at town halls, depending on staffing o not all towns will be involved in this testing project, but can still obtain kits for their town · Seepage spreading ordinance o how will enforcement be handled
Current Issues: Alan Harvey (Town of Windsor): Town of Windsor will host a candidates forum at the end of August Current project: Revere Trails—project under review with Dane County Corporation Council
Ronn Ferrell (Co. Bd. Sup.): There will be a public hearing on 911 system and center—5-19-08 from 6-8pm. It will be held at the Fitchburg Community Center.
Art Riese (WTA): Scholarships will be handed out at Annual Convention in October—located in Appleton Members of WTA are willing to speak at County Unit meetings Resolutions provided to WTA will be discussed at Wausau meeting and Annual meeting
DCTA President Report: WTA trying to get Saturday workshops on the wind turbine topic and possibly other topics Contact the Governor’s office about your concerns related to the transportation budget
Atty. Hazelbaker: Developing an OA aimed at addressing giving all towns municipal status—will be forwarded to WTA OA 2 – shoreland (part of Chapter 11), no town approval needed and clarifies what kind of lots will be buildable
Lyle Updike (Lakes & Watershed Cmte) There will be 3 public forums coming up Lake classification project—understanding the science and process
Roll call was taken. 15 towns present.
Next General member meeting to be held July 9, 2008; however, Pres. Derr was thinking of combining the next meeting with a legislative listening session. If this happens, the next meeting could be pushed back to August.
