Annual Meeting – Election of Officers

Town of Westport

May 9, 2007 

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:00pm by President Jerry Derr. 

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Terry Enge. 

Derr introduced guests from County Board: Hendrick, Bruskewitz, Jensen, de Felice, Todd Violante, Roger Lane (new Zoning Admin.), Joe Campana (ID Theft presenter),

Newly Elected Offiicals: Tony Varda (Chairman-Town of Berry), Daniel Muxfeld (Chairmain –Town of Vienna), Chris Johnson (Supervisor-Town of Oregon), Don Hoffman (Chairman –Town of Springfield), Mark Sherven (Chairman –Town of Vermont), and Kristi Chlebowski (new Register of Deeds).   

Presentations were given:

Register of Deeds: Kristi Chelbowski

  • New software has been received
  • They are about 1 week behind in logging information
  • A seminar will be held on June 19th from 9:30-11:30am at the Alliant Energy Center on the Laredo system.  They will go over the software and services provided to the public.

Dane County Sheriff: Dave Mahoney

·      Will be attending +/- 2 town meetings a month

·      Still battling jail overcrowding

·      Looking into more Speedboards

·      There is increasing gang activity 

Planning & Zoning Department: Todd Violante

  • Introduced the new Zoning Administrator: Roger Lane
  • The office is fully staffed as of 5-7-07
  • The front desk staff will be trained by inspectors to answer some questions
  • There will be policy and procedure updates.  Bill Fleck will be used as a sounding board
  • They’re hoping to have the zoning applications available online soon
  • One-on-one meetings with each town a possibility

Identity Theft: Joe Campana

·      Introduced David Rasmussen who works with counties and municipalities

Organizational Issues 

Election of Officers:

District 1 – Jerry Derr (Bristol)                Elected President

District 2 – Steve Schulz (Medina)         Elected Vice President

District 3 – Milt Sperle (Rutland)

District 4 – Pat Downing (Perry)

District 5 – Milo Breunig (Middleton)

District 6 – Harold Krantz (Cross Plains)

District 7 – Bob Lee (Dane)           

RPC Executive Order was signed on 5-2-07.

County Exec/Cities & Villages/DCTA have selected their representatives to serve on the commission. 

Eileen Bruskewitz noted that the MPO was recertified. 

Dave de Felice spoke about a Quarry OA he would like to put through.  Once drafted, he will send to Jerry Derr. 

No OA updates to report on.
