Dane County Towns Association General Member Meeting Town of Westport March 14, 2007
President Jerry Derr called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm. John Van Dinter led the Pledge of Allegiance. Introduction of Guests: Pat Downing, John Hendrick, Duane Gau, Eileen Bruskewitz, Todd Violante, Charlie Steinhauer, Art Riese Special Guests: Dr. Schlenker, Director of Public Health Department · Handout was provided · Pamphlets are being developed and can be distributed to the towns · Random testing of wells is not being done. Individuals can do perform a test on their own. · This department has taken over animal control services that were originally done thru the Humane Society. Carlo Esqueda, Clerk of Courts · Last year there were 65,000 cases filed · They work with an 8 ½ million dollar budget. Do have 5 million in revenue. · He supervises 107 staff members Todd Violante, Director of Planning and Development · Audit status will be discussed at May meeting · Zoning Administrator: still in process · 2 zoning inspectors have been hired. The interviews have been completed. · Suggestion was made to hold a “Meet your Inspector” night once a year · There are currently 6 inspectors (5-6 towns/inspector) · Fire numbers: working together with the County to enforce the ordinance. Inspectors should touch base with clerks · 80% completed with Comp Planning process – hope to get a draft out to public by summer · There are very detailed Flood Plain maps available in the Planning and Development office Charlie Steinhauer, Zoning Inspector We need to be proactive on naming “unnamed” roads. 100 requests have come in to get numbers for cemeteries & parks. There is not a quick turn around time. OA Updates: 1. TDR· Exec Board approved OA · Jerry will be meeting with Co Bd Chair · Language about comp plans needs to be addressed 2. OA 36· Only applies to sub standard lots in the shoreland district · Was introduced at last County Board meeting Other Business: Art Riese –WTA · District meetings coming up: o Mineral Point: 3/30/07 · Scholarship essays are due in the Shawano office by May 25th. There are 2-$1,000 and 4-$750 scholarships available.
