Dane County Towns Association General Member Meeting Town of Madison January 10, 2007
President Jerry Derr called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. Jim Campbell led the Pledge of Allegiance. Introduction of Guests: Pat Downing, John Hendrick, Dave Mahoney (newly elected Sheriff), Todd Violante, Charlie Steinhauer, Art Riese The Friends of Towns award was presented to Ret. Sheriff Gary Hamblin. Comments from Guests/Candidates: Todd Violante gave an update on the Zoning & Development department. · Zoning Administrator position still vacant. Hope to be filled by February. There are 12 applicants. · There are 2 vacant zoning inspector positions—hope to be filled by March. · Bill Fleck is serving as interim Zoning Administrator Charlie Steinhauer – · Rural Addresses: in the process of being reviewed and corrected due to Homeland Security Act. · Road Names: Town has input, but County enforces the development of new road names. OA 26 – Floodplain Zoning · Not subject to town veto · Each town should obtain flood insurance maps · If town disagrees with new maps, they can file a grievance, but should have complete data showing why the town disagrees. · There will be a 90-day review period · Zoning & Dev. dept will send out notices to towns · Maps are available in the dept or online · Mark Hazelbaker recommended that each town get a hard copy of the map Other Business: Art Riese –WTA District meetings coming up: · Madison: 2/16/07 (Marriott) · Wisconsin Dells: 2/24/07 · Mineral Point: 3/30/07 Capital Days: 3/14/07 There will be a seminar on Development Rights/TDR’s in Menomonee (2/26/07), Kimberly (2/27/07) and Oconomowoc (date:?). President Report: · RPC –still waiting for Governor’s signature · The RPC is still a work in progress · Five interest letters have been received. The exec board will review and make a recommendation Roll Call – 18 towns present There will be an education seminar coming up in March on Impact Fees.
