Dane County Towns Association General Meeting January 14, 2004 Town of Westport
Prior to meeting, members had informal discussions with zoning inspectors. Meeting was called to order by President Gerald Derr. Pledge of allegiance led by Chairman John Van Dinter. VanDinter commented on the new addition to Westport’s Town Hall. It had been in the planning for 8 years and was debt free. John introduced his board members and administrator. A motion to approve the Minutes and Treasurer’s report by Mel Bankes. Second by Harold Krantz. Motion carried. Todd Violante commented on the Comprehensive Planning Process and the RPC merger of staff. More information on Comprehensive Planning can be found at www.daneplan.org . Peter Conrad spoke about different issues in the zoning department. One issue stemmed from complaints regarding corn mazes and pumpkin patches as legal uses in the A-1 Exc. District. Many in audience felt that this was being too picky considering the number of violations for junk yards etc that seem to go unnoticed for years. Mr. Conrad thought that OA 22 would be keeping local control over residential uses in A-1 exc. He spoke about the “substantial farm income” portion of the amendment also. Town plans vs. County Plans – which plan is in control?? This needs to be clarified. Casino at DaJope Joe Wineke spoke on behalf of the HoChunk tribe and Pete Keller and David Relles spoke against locating a casino in Madison. Pros and cons of the gaming issue were discussed. EMS – Madison edict – Madison will charge municipalities an additional $1000 for any paramedic call outside the city limits. The answer is more municipalities will get their own paramedics. Hazelbaker stated he felt the County has let us down on this issue and DCTA needs to take leadership in procuring paramedic services for all. WTA Director – Art Riese spoke about coming events for WTA including district meetings and Capital Days in February. A motion to adjourn. Seconded and passed. Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Ampe, Secretary |
