To organize, unify and strengthen the governing bodies of the towns of Dane County pursuant to section 60.23 (14) of the Wisconsin Statutes, for the cooperative exercise of the powers, duties, prerogatives and activities authorized by statute, in defense of the interests of the residents and taxpayers of the towns represented in the Association and in furtherance of inter-governmental cooperation to preserve the role of towns as the closest and most responsive local government.

Current Activities

Bi-monthly Meetings – The Association meets on the second Wednesday of odd numbered months.  The meetings are held at various sites around the county.  Programs are geared to keep town officials up-to-date on current issues at county and state levels.

Workshops- The DCTA Plan Commission Workshops have proven to be popular and cover topics that Plan Commissioners and Town Board members alike find informative.  Those who complete the 4 sessions are rewarded by becoming Certified Plan Commissioners.

Other workshops have been presented on Employee Handbooks, How to Run an Effective Meeting, Budgeting and many more.

Updates on zoning, land use issues, transportation and other town issues are reported in the monthly newsletter.

DCTA is active in the Wisconsin Towns Association and the Urban Towns Committee.

The DCTA has been active in the demise of the Dane County Regional Planning Commission and continues to work for a sensible replacement.
