Annual Meeting – Election of Officers

American Legion –Sun Prairie

May 11, 2005

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by President Jerry Derr. 

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lyle Updike. 

Derr introduced guests from County Board: Gau, Hendrick, Bruskewitz, Wendt, Jensen, Hitzemann, de Felice.  Art Riese from WTA.  A few newly elected officials were also introduced.    

Two presentations were given:

CIC – Klein Insurance Group; Tom Olson and Carol Willick

  • They provided attendees with packets of information: background information, reference list, and a quote packet.
  • They are affiliated with County Mutual
  • They offer Public Official liability with no deductible
  • Non-monetary claims

Maurice Andrews – WI Professionals Police Association – Shared Revenue

  • See Handout
  • Provided shared revenue qualification criteria
  • A short statement on the County shared revenue plan
  • A statement on the small municipalities shared revenue plan

Roll Call was taken and 24 towns were present. 

Election of Officers:

District 1 – Jerry Derr (Bristol)                     Elected President

District 2 – Steve Schulz (Medina)

District 3 – Roger Olson (Albion)

District 4 – Pat Downing (Perry)

District 5 – Milo Breunig (Middleton)

District 6 – Harold Krantz (Cross Plains)

District 7 – Bob Lee (Dane)                        Elected Vice President 

MPO Appointment:

John Van Dinter made a motion to nominate Eileen Bruskewitz for MPO. James Ripp second, motion carried. 

Secretary/Treasurer position:

James Ripp made a motion to elect Julie Gau as Secretary/Treasurer.  Lyle Updike second, motion carried.

Lakes & Watershed Committee:

John Van Dinter is resigning from the committee. 

If anyone is interested, they should send Jerry Derr a letter/email stating they are interested, within 30 days. 

Recognition:

Aicardo Roa was given the Friends of Towns award for his dedicated service. 

Case Management –Elderly: Co. Bd. Supervisor Gau

The Co. Exec would like to charge the elderly a fee for services.

$800,000/year is given to case management by the County.

There should be discussion among the towns about recommendations. 

OA Updates:  Hazelbaker 

OA 16 (CUP)—approved

  • Sub 1 – modify the zoning ordinance
  • Prevents courts from rewriting ordinance
  • A memo will be sent to the towns to vote

Open Discussion 

  • The Comprehensive Plan will be presented to the Co. Bd within the year.
  • Bob Bowman submitted a document on the COG—see attached.
  • Vern Wendt has introduced a resolution to the Co. Bd. To support legislation to grant towns CUP power over County.
  • WTA – Art Riese
    • Scholarship program entries due May 23rd to the Shawano office
  • June 4th is Dairy Breakfast on the Farm
    • Will be held in Bristol
  • July 13 – Next General member meeting at 7:30pm
    • Location and agenda TBD
