General Meeting

July 9, 2003

 

Meeting was  held at Town of Oregon

 Meeting called to order by President Gerald Derr.

 Jerry Jensen led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 President Derr welcomed guests for the evening.

 Minutes and Treasurer’s Report were approved on motion of Kris Hampton.  Seconded and Carried

Roll Call – 18 towns were present.

Election of MPO Representative

Kris Hampton made a motion to nominate Eileen Bruskewitz to the MPO.  Second by John Van Dinter.  A motion to close the nominations.  Seconded and carried.  Roll call vote on nomination.  The following towns were present and voted in favor of Eileen Bruskewitz as MPO representative:  Middleton, Bristol, Cottage Grove, Pleasant Springs, Rutland, Springfield, Sun Prairie, and Westport.

State Patrol Ted Staffon discussed road weight limits, how to enforce, exemptions and signage.

 Hazelbaker Report – Mark went over the implications that the Rock Co. case regarding subdivision regulation of roads.  According to the decision, the county does not have the power to enforce road standards in town subdivisions.  Mark feels that each town needs to have a subdivision ordinance that lays out road standards.  Dane County Corp Counsel will be issuing an opinion on this issue.

 Norm Faber indicated that this would be his last meeting as he will be retiring from the WTA Board of Directors this month.  Norm brought the group up to date on state road issues.

 A motion was made to adjourn.  Seconded and carried.
